Our school has
decided to dedicate a wing in our building to honor the women and men who throughout
history have made a positive impact on our world. This wing will be called The
History Maker Hall of Fame.
You have been asked to be the curators for the Hall of Fame.
As curators, you will have the following responsibilities:
STEP 1: Choose a name from the list of famous people.
STEP 2: Time to research. You will need to use a variety of sources to find specific information on the history maker you have chosen.
* Print a copy of the notetaking sheet to make sure you have researched all important facts.
* Go to the RESOURCES page to find information on the person you have chosen.
STEP 3: Now you will have to formally nominate the individual whom you feel has made a positive contribution to society. This is a required activity. (Activity 1).
STEP 4: To honor your
nominee, you will create a Hall of Fame display. You will have a choice of activities
(Activity 2 - 3).

ACTIVITY 1 Hall of Fame Nominations --- Persuasive Essay (Required)
Using the principles for constructing a persuasive essay, develop an essay that includes the the following details:
a. describe the contribution(s) made by your historical nominee
b. describe the circumstances that led to their contribution(s)
c. describe how their contribution(s) changed society
d. explain why this historical figure should be included into the Hall of Fame

ACTIVITY 2 Biographical Sketch --- Poster or Banner
Create a poster or banner that will include:
a. a title
b. a well written summary statement that highlights your research findings. Make sure
you include:
* birth date and place
* country of origin
* contribution(s) made to society
c. an
illustration that graphically depicts your nominee's life,as well as a picture of your
nominee
ACTIVITY 3 Biographical Sketch --- HyperStudio or PowerPoint Stacks
1. Have your research findings ready. Make sure you have:

2. Create a HyperStudio or PowerPoint stack following these guidelines:
1 Card -- Title Card
