Students will use the card catalog to locate books on architecture
Students will use various reference materials to find architectural pictures
Students will explore specified Internet sites to locate pictures containing geometric shapes in architecture
As you begin to explore our world and its architecture you will embark on a journey that will excite and motivate you! You will see many different styles of buildings as you navigate and explore.
Within the facades of most buildings you will see geometric shapes that might form roof lines, windows, doorways, and other architectural features.

Triangle Formulas
Perimeter: distance around an object, add up all the sides
P = a+b+c
Area: surface covered  inside of an object
A= ½bh
Slide 19
Slide 20
Rectangle Formulas
Perimeter: distance around an object
P = 2l + 2w
Area: surface covered inside of the figure
A = lw
Slide 22
Square Formulas
Perimeter: distance around an object, add up all the sides
P = s+s+s+s= 4s
Area: surface covered inside of the figure
A= s ´ s = s2
Slide 24
Trapezoid Formula
Perimeter: add up all the sides
Area = ½(b1 + b2)h
Slide 26
Parallelogram Formulas
Perimeter: distance around the object
Area : surface covered inside the figure
A = bh
Slide 28
Circle Formulas
Circumference: distance around the circle
C = 2pr  or C = pd
Area: inside surface
A = pr2
Semicircles
To find the area of a semicircle, just divide the area of the circle by 2 (same as multiplying by ½)
