Is there a difference in food found in different regions? Do they only eat pasta and pizza and drink chianti wine? What are their eating customs? |
small breakfast- milk and coffee. They eat slowly. Bread eaten without butter. A variety of breads eaten. There are regional differences - pasta is a first course in a meal except in the far north. Risotto or polenta is the norm. Vegetables, grains and legumes take center stage in the meal. Olive oil is dark green in south, golden in north. In the north in the Dolomites - Austro-Hungarian influence - they eat soups, strudels, sauerkraut, and vinegar Pasta in south is usually bought in its dry state; in north they make homemade pasta and cook it fresh |
