Are you ready?  It is now time to take that first step toward finding a career that best suits you.  To help you do just that, please follow the steps below and find the career that best fits your interests and skills. 

 

 

Before you begin, click on this site and become familiar with the 10 basic steps to planning your career.  Be sure to go through the steps making sure you understand them before beginning the project. http://www.mapping-your-future.org/MHSS/

 

 

 

1.     The first step is to develop a career plan.  List below any careers you feel you are interested in learning more about.

5.     Compare your skills and interests with the occupation you have selected.  The job that matches your skills, interests, and personality may be the career for you.

 

 

6.      Selecting a school to assist in your career goal can be achieved by looking up further information at the web sites provided.  Additional information about financial aid is also available.  (Although this is not necessary for completing this treasure hunt, it may be something you want to consider while developing your career goal.)

 

 

7.     To complete the requirements of this treasure hunt, you will need to complete a Resume and cover letter.   When preparing your resume, please go to http://jobstar.org/tools/resume/student.cfm.  Here you will find examples to help you complete the resume.    A sample cover letter is also available at http://jobstar.org/tools/resume/ctemp.cfm.  Complete your cover letter addressed to  a person and company appropriate to your career choice. (This need not be a real name and address.)

 

8.     To further research a career goal, you may look in other places.  Include in you search your career guidance center, libraries, and personal interviews with people working in your career choice.
