You have just read The Cay by Theodore Taylor. Now we would like to see what you have learned and also, to learn more!! Below are questions for you to answer with a web site to visit. Visit each web site to search for the answers to the questions and instructions. You may print this page to write your answers.

After collecting your information, you are going to create a The Cay Information Booklet, complete with illustrations.

Site I:

1)       What is a coral reef? (Ch. 7-8)

2)       What would you do when faced with a hurricane? (Ch. 15-16)

1)      Choose a word in the vocabulary box and use it in your title. Illustrate your title.

2) Ch. 3-6: Collect information about The White Shark-use at least 3 to 4 items in each column. What would you have done if you were in Phillip’s shoes (point of view)?

3) Ch. 14-15: Create a poem-choose one from 1-5. Create a poem using the information given and illustrate.

4) Ch. 16-19: After burying Timothy, Phillip is left to rebuild. Follow the pattern provided and write how you would have handled the same situation.

Sometimes learning about the author tells you a lot about his writing and writing style. Answer the following:

3)      What war did he serve in?

4)      Where did he get the idea for The Cay?

5)      How many awards has he received for his writing?
