to the Regents-Based Treasure Hunt on:
Throughout human history various events have changed
the way people have lived. These events
can be political revolutions, social
and religious changes, new technologies, or the exploration of unknown
places. Whatever the process, these
historical events have changed the world.
This treasure hunt focuses on the major periods of change and the
turning points of human history. Look at
the following historical events and answer the question(s) that follow. Click

QUESTION #1: One
reason for the development of early civilizations in the river valleys was that
periodic flooding deposited fresh silt onto the land providing rich soil that
was ideal for farming. Humans started to

QUESTION #6: The 18th Century
was a time of great political turbulence.
Many revolutions resulted because of the political unrest. Some existing governments were able to keep
control by enacting reforms that were designed to address the problems and
avoid a revolution. However, these
reforms seldom outlived the monarchs that had enacted them. The American Revolution, however, produced
reforms and a government that would outlast the lives of those who enacted
them, and inspired other nations to revolt.

I. Countries were divided, many were
