Introduction

Little Brown Bear, LBB, is our class mascot. Each day he will travel home with one of you. In his bag will be a journal for you to write about an adventure you had together.   The following day you  will be sharing your story with the rest of the class. This activity promotes responsibility for class property, reading, story telling, writing, listening, speaking, and developing good questioning skills. LBB will be visiting with you several times throughout the year.  As you  become more proficient with your reading and writing skills you will be able to complete the journal independently. Don't be afraid to ask your parents for help, if needed.  After you write in the journal, practice reading it to someone at home to help you get ready to read it to the class.

Directions:

1. After you have been chosen to spend the night with LBB, put him carefully in your book bag.
2. When you arrive home, remove LBB from your book bag and introduce him to your family.
3. Have FUN with LBB!
4. Sometime before you go to bed, write in LBB's journal about the adventure you had with him.
5. Practice reading your journal entry to someone at home.
