Directions: The first thing you do is read the following very carefully.

The colors of the flag:

            The red on the flag means courage. The white on the flag means purity. The blue on the flag means justice.

The Stars and Stripes:

            There are 13 stripes on the flag. These represent the first 13 colonies or states. The 50 stars mean there are 50 states in the United States now.

Nicknames for the flag:

            The flag is sometimes called Old Glory, Stars and Stripes, and Star Spangled Banner.

Now that you have read all about our flag, click on the flag to print out the answer sheet.

 

Do you know what the words to the Pledge of Allegiance mean?

Read carefully:

Pledge of Allegiance

"I pledge allegiance"

{I promise to be true}

"to the flag"

{to the symbol of our country}

"of the United States of America"

{each state that makes up our country}

"and to the republic for which it stands"

{A republic is a country with a president.}

{a single country under God}

{Liberty means freedom to think and act and speak.}

{Justice means everyone is treated equally.}
