The Lewis and Clark expedition saw many plants and animals that had never been seen
before by White men.  They also were subject to diseases as they traveled.

Your job as the team naturalist is to become the expert on the many plants and animals encountered on the journey. You will also need to become the medical expert for your team.

TASK 1

Gather information about 10 or more plants and animals
encountered on the expedition.
In your journal you must describe the species,
and wherever possible, quote the book, Sacajawea,
or the Journals describing that encounter.

TASK 2

Learn about what effects diseases introduced by Whites
had on the native population (example: smallpox).

TASK 3

Make a chart of the physical ailments suffered by the Corp on their journey.
Quote the book, Sacajewea, for a description of the symptoms.
List the treatment used and outcome.
Finally, list how we would treat the ailment today.
