| A
three-day workshop for teachers who wish to learn the basic
fundamentals of creating lessons designed to be utilized from the
World Wide Web.
Participants will develop an individual or group project that
will concentrate on enhancing an existing lesson with resources from the
WWW.
Training will include an opportunity to examine various types of
web-enhanced projects, including: Treasure Hunts, Web Quests and
collaborative projects and learn fundamental elements of Microsoft’s
Front Page. Participants will also learn basic Internet skills that are
associated with developing web-enhanced lessons. Samples of projects
created during this training can be viewed on the NYNET
Projects Page. |

Beginner Workshop Focus: To provide teachers with a means of developing a web based project using the NYS Learning Standards. | An
intense three-day workshop similar to Web Enhanced Lessons. Participants
MUST have completed the previous 5 day, Creating Multimedia
Presentations workshop; or Level II training. Some components of Web
Enhanced Lessons will not be covered because of prior instruction in
previous workshops.
Use of streaming video content will be demonstrated and
encouraged within this workshop. The
workshop will concentrate on the development and completion of a lesson
incorporating the NYS Learning Standards. Note: This workshop is
not for participants that have previously completed Web Enhanced
Lessons. |

Intermediate/Advanced Workshop Focus: Successful completion of a web based project. Prerequisites: Participants must have completed "Creating Multimedia Presentations" or NY Wired/Level II training. Proficient knowledge of WORD and/or PowerPoint is necessary. Internet skills should include successful navigation strategies, saving favorites and using and documenting acceptable Internet content. Time: Three consecutive days, 8:30 - 3:00 Location: Schenectady High School, NYNET Technology Training Center |

| This
three-day workshop is for prior participants to complete a project
previously started or to develop and complete a new project. This
workshop will focus more on independent web content development rather
than teacher lead training. Trainers will be on hand to provide
assistance. Usage of streaming video content will be included and
encouraged within this workshop.

The Introduction of Streaming
Video will be introduced in the above two workshops. There are some important
steps to follow regarding streaming video files if you choose to participate in
either the Web Enhanced Lessons II or Web Content Development Workshop. Please
print out the following tutorial at least 3 weeks prior to your anticipated
workshop date.
Using Streaming Video in Web Content Projects
| Learn
the basic principals of developing and managing course content in web
based software - Blackboard. Participants will learn the basic skills
necessary to begin using Blackboard for integrating course material and
communication tools. Incorporation of streaming video will be
presented. |

5. Using the NY State Virtual Learning Space Summer Offering Only
|
Seven of the previous NY State Title III recipient consortiums have been chosen to be part of the NYS Virtual Learning Space Grant. Each has developed web content that has been selected by the State Education Department as having quality resources for teaching and learning. Participants will have an opportunity to review each of the participating consortium’s resources and develop a project to disseminate this information within his/her school building and/or district. |

6. Introduction to Designing an Online Course Summer Offering Only
|
Begin
setting up your own online course. These three days will move very quickly
thru the basics of the Blackboard platform. Participants will use digital
video, upload word documents and learn how to personalize their course
environment. The class will participate in an online discussion and learn
about different assessment options. Users should come prepared with class
notes,
resources and assessment materials for one unit that they teach
during the school year. |

Intermediate/Advanced Workshop Focus: Developing a "Course Shell" within Blackboard. Skills learned will include: inclusion of unit content, uploading relative document and files, adding course users, using the discussion board and customizing the course shell. Prerequisites: Advanced Windows Users, comfort using peripherals such as digital camera and scanners, experience using internet explorer.
